West Devon Methodist Circuit
Hello Everyone,
Well, I am told it is my turn to write some reflections for this month's newsletter; so here goes!
February has arrived and already we are eleven months away from Christmas 2012. Life so far in 2012 for myself has been busy. I like many others have also had a cold. Still here we all are in February. What to say, what to write? I feel I would like to share with you some reflections around road signs. Yes, that's right road signs as metaphors for life.
Do you sometimes feel that your life could be described and is represented by the roundabout sign? You would say about yourself, that your life is going round and around in circles and you are doing what you have always done? But perhaps getting nowhere? Or maybe your life is represented by the crossroads sign. You are discovering that 2012 is holding many life choices for you, and you are not sure which way to go, which road to choose? Then of course, you could be reading this and saying to yourself, no, neither one of these signs represents my life today; my life is more like the clearway sign- no stopping. You may feel, life is moving so fast places to go, people to see and you are out of control and there is nothing you can do about this. Everything is just happening around you. The other thought around this sign is of course is you may wish your life was going faster - that you had more to do to occupy your time!
However, is your life represented by the no U-turn sign? Your life is going in one direction and you want to go back from where you started? Or have your fears and worry about what 2012 has in store for you, around the bend, or up a steep hill; which feels like a mountain, perhaps you have health, or job worries. Well, what about the Stop sign? Do you like slowing down in life or stopping? When driving a car there are times when we have to stop. Stopping is good. It makes us take stock, of where we are, where are we looking and hoping to be. Are we approaching a roundabout, or crossroads, the dual carriage way? Is God trying to say to you at the beginning of 2012. Stop what you are doing and Give way. I pray that all of us through 2012 will learn to stop and give way to one another, but most importantly Give way to God.
God bless you as your journey on with the Lord in this New Year.
Love and Prayers and may you be able to read the road sign the Lord is showing you.
